The Role in Context

The Human Capital Associate – South Africa plays a critical role in supporting the implementation of GreenCo’s regional and group-wide human capital strategy. This position provides broad HR and administrative support across the GreenCo Group — including HR systems, performance management, employee engagement, and compliance projects — while ensuring that all South Africa-specific HR initiatives comply with national legislation, B-BBEE, Employment Equity (EE), and Skills Development requirements. The role is primarily operational with advisory input on compliance and HR processes, acting as a link between the South Africa office and the regional Human Capital function.

Key Duties
A. Groupwide Human Capital Support
  • Provide administrative and coordination support for group-level HR projects, including performance management cycles, learning and development programs, policy harmonization, and employee engagement activities.
  • Maintain employee data and records for all jurisdictions within BambooHR, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and confidentiality.
  • Assist with the creation and updating of group HR documentation such as the Employee Handbook, policy templates, and compliance registers.
  • Contribute to cross-border reporting, audits, and HR metrics consolidation across countries (Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia, South Africa, UK).
  • Support coordination of regional recruitment and onboarding efforts, ensuring alignment with GreenCo’s group values and culture.
  • Participate in HR knowledge-sharing and standardization efforts across jurisdictions.
B. South Africa Compliance & Operations
  • Leave Tracking & Payroll Coordination: Maintain accurate leave records and liaise with payroll vendors to ensure timely and compliant payroll processing.
  • Compliance: Ensure all HR practices comply with South African legislation (BCEA, LRA, EEA, SDA, POPIA).
  • Manage statutory reporting and compliance processes, including Employment Equity submissions, Skills Development reporting (WSP/ATR), and B-BBEE verification data.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, contracts, and benefits for South Africa-based staff.
  • Support implementation and monitoring of Employment Equity plans and targets.
  • Employee Relations: Act as first point of contact for HR queries, support disciplinary and grievance processes in line with company policy and labour law.
  • Learning & Development: Track performance reviews, manage training compliance, liaise with SETAs for WSP/ATR.
  • Promote inclusive recruitment and professional development practices aligned with B-BBEE and DEI objectives.
Qualifications and Skills Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, Business Administration or other related field.
  • HR professional certification will give an added advantage.
  • 3–5 years HR generalist experience with compliance expertise.
  • Strong knowledge of South African labor laws and B-BBEE/EE requirements.
  • Proficiency in HR systems (e.g., BambooHR) and Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated commitment to confidentiality, ethical HR practices, and alignment with GreenCo’s values of integrity, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Collaborative, detail-oriented, and passionate about people development.
  • Proficiency in BambooHR for core HR functions (employee data, leave, performance).
  • Familiarity with payroll systems and learning management platforms;
  • Ability to liaise with external vendors for compliance reporting.

Time Commitment
