YOUR ROLE
The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating environmental health and safety policies, completing workplace and equipment inspections and implementing workplace safety programs.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensuring compliance: Ensuring that the company adheres to all relevant safety regulations and legal rules
- Identifying hazards: Identifying potential health, safety, and environmental hazards in the workplace
- Implementing safety measures: Setting up safety equipment, conducting safety tests, and ensuring that emergency exits, first aid kits, and fire extinguishers are functional.
- Conducting safety training: Educating employees on safety protocols and general safety rules.
- Investigating accidents: Investigating accidents, injuries, and near misses.
- Developing emergency response procedures: Developing and leading emergency response procedures to ensure employees are prepared to respond effectively.
- Managing contractors: Overseeing EHS requirements for contractors and vendors working on-site.
- Document control: Ensure safeguarding and maintenance of the legal documentation required for the safety, environmental and health management systems.
- Monitoring exposure: Monitoring exposure to hazardous chemicals.
- Reporting: Reporting to relevant governmental organizations.
- Promoting safety: Promoting the use of safer work equipment, materials, and supplies.
- Collaborating: Collaborating with key stakeholders, such as legislators and improve the overall safety of the workplace.
YOUR EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- SAMTRAC or equivalent (Safety Management Training Course), or similar
- HIRA (Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment)
- Incident Investigation training (basic knowledge or exposure preferred)
- Advanced Fire Fighting certification
- First Aid Level 2 or 3 certification
- Working at Heights certification (basic training or exposure)
- Confined Space Entry training (basic training or exposure)
- Environmental Management (basic understanding or relevant certification)
- Knowledge of Legal Liability principles (basic training or exposure)
- 1–3 years of experience in a similar role.
- Strong interpersonal skills and willingness to learn.
- Basic understanding of HSSEQ principles and management systems
