ROLE: HR OFFICER
REPORTS TO: HEAD OF HR, GROUP HR DIRECTOR

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

Our growing team seeks an HR Officer to support and implement the organization’s people strategy by delivering efficient, compliant, and data-driven HR operations—covering onboarding/offboarding, HR administration, payroll and benefits, performance and development, learning, policy compliance, employee engagement and relations, workforce planning, analytics, health, safety and wellbeing.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Promote HR visibility: The HR Officer will boost visibility by clearly communicating programs and policies, maintaining accessible employee touchpoints, driving adoption of HR initiatives, and delivering data-driven insights to leadership. Assist, guide, support and advise on HR related matters across IOEC departments/sites. Provide excellent customer service and maintain effective employee experience.
  • HR Administration: Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including personnel files and HR databases. Process HR-related documentation, onboarding, such as employment contracts, employee letters, and performance-related documents, medical aid, retirement fund. Work closely with Payroll to support effective administration flow for efficient payroll processing.
  • Champion Induction of new employees and offboarding processes.
  • Performance Management: Assist the HR Executive with regards to the appraisal process and ensure performance reviews are done in accordance with the RSA Legilsation. Coordinates the implementation in all Organisational Development, Training & Development activities with the HR Team.
  • Ensure compliance with RSA Legislation, guided by the HR Executive. Assist in the preparation of Employment Equity information including reports and other related administrative duties. Provide data for BBBEE scorecards and assist in collation for the audits. Coordinate and compile monthly, quarterly, and yearly reporting aligned to strategic metrics including trend analysis and recommendations from the HR Leadership Team.
  • Be part of HR Projects, coordinate people initiatives (incl. EAP), Community Outreach activities and ad-hoc tasks.
  • Creating and advising on disciplinary policies, investigating misconduct, preparing for and conducting disciplinary hearings, and ensuring fair and consistent application of disciplinary procedures. Assist the HR Executive on employee relation matters up to CCMA/Bargaining Council when applicable and in line with company policies (bundle preparations etc). Coordinate internal disciplinary hearings.
  • Coordinate incapacity process emanating from the Medical Review Board (P/Fund).
  • Assists in all recruitment, screening, selection, and placement activities when required.
Requirements:
  • Education: Matric and Tertiary Education in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or related field
  • 3 - 4 years of HR or administrative experience, preferably in a generalist role.
  • Experience: Knowledge of performance management, onboarding, and employee relations fundamentals, understanding of labor laws and HR compliance.
  • Familiarity with HRIS/HRMS, payroll processes, and data privacy principles.
