Job Overview
A Meat Retail Company is seeking a HR Administrator that will provide comprehensive HR and payroll support within a high-volume FMCG meat processing/retail environment. The role ensures accurate employee records, compliance with labour legislation, and efficient HR operations across production, dispatch, and administrative staff.
Key Responsibilities
- HR Administration
- Maintain accurate employee records, contracts, and personnel files
- Capture and update employee data on HR & payroll systems
- Prepare employment contracts, letters, warnings, and disciplinary documentation
- Manage onboarding and offboarding processes (induction, PPE, access control)
- Time & Attendance / Payroll Support
- Administer clocking systems, shift schedules, and overtime records
- Verify hours worked for weekly/monthly payroll
- Assist with payroll queries, leave balances, and deductions
- Ensure compliance with BCEA, UIF, PAYE, and COIDA requirements
- Industrial Relations & Compliance
- Support disciplinary hearings, CCMA documentation, and grievance processes
- Ensure compliance with labour legislation, bargaining council rules, and company policies
- Maintain employment equity and training records
- Assist with audits (labour, health & safety, food safety related HR compliance)
- Recruitment & Training Support
- Assist with recruitment for production, slaughter floor, and FMCG roles
- Coordinate interviews, medicals, and reference checks
- Track training, skills development, and mandatory certificates
- General HR Support
- Handle employee queries professionally and confidentially
- Support HR Manager with reports and HR metrics
- Liaise with department managers and union representatives where required
Requirements
- Diploma or Certificate in Human Resources / Labour Relations
- 2–4 years HR Administration experience (FMCG or meat processing highly advantageous)
- Strong understanding of South African labour legislation
- Experience with shift work, high-volume staff, and unionised environments
- Payroll and time & attendance system experience
- Strong admin skills, attention to detail, and confidentiality
