• Location : PinetownDescription : A pharmaceutical company is seeking a Head of Biotechnology Product Development to join their team. The position includes the development and growth of the company’s R&D capabilities in line with strategic directives and expansion of the diagnostic and therapeutic product portfolio; management and growth of the Biotechnology Product Development department by providing the required resources and support for the optimal functioning of the department; identification of appropriate medical device, diagnostic, and therapeutic protein development projects in line with the company’s strategic and business objectives, in consultation with relevant stakeholders; managing, supporting, facilitating, coordinating, and applying project management approaches to the development activities to ensure successful completion; facilitating the internal technology transfer of the developed processes and products to Operations and Quality Control; and advising internal stakeholders on strategic biotechnological topics based on the latest scientific developments, trends, and discoveries.Key Requirements : Minimum MSc in Biotechnology, MEng in Chemical Engineering, or similar, while a PhD in Biotechnology would be preferred. A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a GMP or Biotechnology environment and 3 years’ experience in a managerial position. The ideal candidate should have a successful track record in the field of Biotechnology R&D Project Management and be a South African citizen.Additional Requirements : The ideal candidate should be customer orientated and strategic; have quality awareness, technical / professional knowledge, and a project management approach; and analysis / problem solving, leadership, planning and organising, decision making, and relationship management skills.
