Placements24 is seeking a Transportation Specialist in Sandton to oversee daily transportation operations, coordinate carriers, and ensure compliant, cost-efficient movement of goods. The role requires strong collaboration with suppliers and internal teams in a hybrid work setting.

Responsibilities include documentation, carrier management, and performance analysis to optimize routes and costs. A relevant logistics degree is preferred, with 3–5 years’ experience in transportation or supply chain.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain.
• Strong understanding of road, rail, air and sea transport modes.
• Proficiency in TMS and related software.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage daily transportation activities, including route planning and carrier selection.
• Negotiate rates and service level agreements with transportation providers.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation laws, regulations, and safety standards.
• Prepare and manage shipping documentation, including bills of lading, customs declarations, and invoices.
• Monitor shipment status, resolve transit issues, and communicate updates to stakeholders.
• Analyze transportation data to identify opportunities for cost savings and operational improvements.
