Overview

As the supervisor, you are responsible for ensuring adequate supervision and compliance with legal requirements related to the operation of the Gas Test Station. You must safeguard the independence, impartiality and integrity of the test shop and its personnel. You will oversee that maintenance is covered by a management system, that plant and equipment are maintained in accordance with manufacturing instructions and OEM requirements, and that all operators receive training and competence assessments. You will proactively update branch work instructions and procedures, conduct periodic self‑audits, implement corrective actions, and participate in site quality management reviews with a focus on the Test Shop.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure adequate supervision and compliance to legal requirements with respect to the operation of the Gas Test Station.
  • Prevent external influences from affecting the independence, impartiality and integrity of the test shop or its personnel.
  • Ensure that Test Shop maintenance is covered by a maintenance management system and that plant and equipment are maintained in accordance with manufacturing instructions and OEM requirements.
  • Ensure that all Test Shop operators receive training and competence assessment in the work activities they need to perform, with emphasis on risk‑control procedures identified by the general risk assessment.
  • Proactively update branch work instructions and procedures in line with modifications to Test Shop facilities, activities and any residual risks identified by the general risk assessment.
  • Conduct periodic self‑audits and implement corrective actions, and participate in the site quality management review with specific emphasis on the Test Shop.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Relevant technical qualification or completed apprenticeship/learnership under a mechanical discipline.
  • At least 12 months of working experience within a gas test station, directly related to pressure receptacle inspection, testing and management of the gas test station.
  • Detailed knowledge of the hazards, procedures and equipment associated with gas cylinders.
  • Familiarity with the general requirements of standards and regulations for cylinders inspected and tested by the Test Shop.
