Placements24 is seeking a High-Performance Rugby Coach to lead its elite academy in Klerksdorp, North West. The role requires designing advanced training methods to develop players’ physical and tactical abilities, with rugby conditioning, psychology and injury prevention expertise.

You will collaborate with the academy director, coaching staff and sports scientists to create year-round programs, assess players, monitor progress and help build a winning culture while guiding player development

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Sports Science, Kinesiology, Coaching or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years coaching high-performance athletes.
• Expertise in rugby-specific strength, conditioning, skill acquisition and tactical development.
• World Rugby Level 3/4 coaching accreditation or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of sports psychology, injury prevention and rehabilitation.

Responsabilités

• Develop year-round high-performance rugby training programs focusing on strength, conditioning, skills and tactics.
• Conduct player assessments, including physical testing, game analysis and psychological evaluations.
• Collaborate with coaching staff and sports medicine for integrated development and injury prevention.
• Deliver position-specific training aligned with team philosophy.
• Monitor load and recovery to optimize performance and minimize overtraining risks.
• Educate players on nutrition, hydration, sleep, and lifestyle factors affecting performance.
• Stay current with rugby coaching research and sports science innovations.
• Provide ongoing feedback and mentorship to players for growth.
• Assist recruitment and scouting of talented academy players.
• Maintain detailed records of progress, training data and performance metrics.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive, year-round high-performance training programs for academy rugby players, focusing on strength, conditioning, skill development, and tactical awareness.

• Collaborate closely with the coaching staff and sports medicine team to ensure integrated player development, injury prevention, and rehabilitation strategies.
• Design and deliver position-specific training sessions, ensuring alignment with the team's overall playing philosophy.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Sports Science, Kinesiology, Coaching, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in coaching high-performance athletes, preferably within a structured academy or professional sports environment.
• Demonstrated expertise in rugby-specific strength and conditioning, skill acquisition, and tactical development.
• Relevant coaching certifications (e.g., World Rugby Level 3/4 coaching accreditation, accredited strength and conditioning certification).
• Strong understanding of sports psychology, injury prevention, and rehabilitation principles.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Experience with performance analysis tools and data management.
• Passion for developing young athletes and a commitment to the Leisure & Sports ethos.
• Must be available to work in Klerksdorp, North West, with flexible hours to accommodate training and match schedules.
