Qualifications

• Bachelor of Architecture or equivalent required.
• Minimum 5 years in architectural design with heritage focus.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Strong understanding of historical styles, materials and methods.
• Knowledge of heritage legislation and conservation principles.
• Excellent research, documentation and reporting skills.
• Strong visual and spatial reasoning; collaborative in hybrid setting.
• Experience with 3D modeling and rendering is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed surveys and assessments of historic buildings and sites.
• Prepare accurate architectural drawings, including measured surveys, restoration plans, and adaptive reuse proposals.
• Research historical building techniques, materials, and stylistic periods relevant to projects in Stellenbosch and surrounding heritage contexts.
• Collaborate with heritage specialists and engineers to develop conservation strategies and technical specifications.
• Prepare documentation for heritage impact assessments and approval processes.
• Develop 3D models and visualizations to illustrate proposed conservation interventions.
• Assist in the preparation of tender documents and contract administration for conservation projects.
• Maintain a high standard of technical accuracy and design quality in all project deliverables.
• Participate in site visits and provide on-site support as needed, balancing remote and office-based tasks.
• Stay updated on best practices and evolving standards in heritage conservation and architectural restoration.
