About the Role

Our client, a major player in the agricultural and heavy equipment sector based in Upington, is seeking a skilled and experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic. You will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of a diverse range of heavy machinery, including tractors, combines, and construction equipment. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues, and a commitment to ensuring the operational readiness of vital equipment. Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy-duty machinery and equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair engine, transmission, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Utilize specialized tools and diagnostic equipment to identify and rectify mechanical failures.
• Conduct pre-delivery inspections and prepare new equipment for operation.
• Maintain detailed service and repair records for all equipment worked on.
• Ensure all safety procedures are followed during maintenance and repair operations.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Heavy Duty Mechanic or similar role, preferably with agricultural or construction equipment.
• Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical diagnostic skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
• Proficiency with diagnostic software and tools specific to heavy equipment.
• A valid driver's license and a willingness to travel occasionally to field service locations.
• Strong work ethic and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in Upington.
