Job description
Overview

Purpose of the role :

To provide support in the following :

  • Maintenance of the health, safety, and environment at the facility,
  • Daily / weekly / monthly monitoring and reporting of HSE,
  • Managing the ISO Management systems – i.e., 14001 and 45001
Responsibilities

Health & Safety :

  • Compliance with all Environmental, health, and safety guidelines and procedures.

Key Tasks

  • Health, safety, and environmental reporting, including safety findings, incidents, near misses, housekeeping, PPE, and weekly summary.
  • Assist & conduct the following types of audits : Statutory quarterly reporting, departmental HSE Files, contractor safety files,
  • Attend daily meetings, review meetings with HSE Manager,
  • Conduct follow-up audits to verify the effectiveness of corrective actions
  • Conduct risk assessments and participate in FMEA reviews
  • Promote SHE awareness & undertake training with relevant personnel
  • Report incidents in the Incidents Database and investigate root causes for corrective action
  • Assist with and chair incident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Assist in all related SHE activities as advised by the health and safety manager.
  • Work according to Integrated (Environmental, Health and Safety) Management System requirements.
  • Work according to Instructions / Procedures as pertaining to his / her operation function as assigned and abide by all legal (laws / by-laws) requirements / Company Policies and Practices
  • Housekeeping management and monitoring
  • Assisting and undertaking training of staff (inductions, SWP’s, toolbox talks, safety conversations).
  • Address environmental incidents and ensure compliance with the site specific EMPr.
  • Arrange for collections and deliveries (example waste, environmental sampling equipment).
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, including but not limited to OSHA, GSR, NEMA, NEMAQA, NEMWA.

Other :

  • Perform any other related duties in the interest of CEMZA as instructed.
  • Work according to Integrated (Environmental and Quality) Management System requirements.
  • Work according to Instructions / Procedures as pertaining to his / her operation function as assigned and abide by all legal (laws / by-laws) requirements / Company Policies and Practices.
Minimum Requirements
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a chemical / automotive / industrial environment.
  • University qualification in Occupational Health and Safety / Safety management / environmental management or SAMTRAC or NEBOSH required.
  • Formal qualification in ISO Systems (14001 and 45001) is advantageous.
  • Good report writing skills
  • Auditing experience is required
