About YMCA St Paul's Group

YMCA St Paul's Group is a charity dedicated to supporting and empowering young people and communities throughout London. We provide life‑changing youth work, essential community services, inclusive health and wellbeing centres, and supported accommodation for those at risk of homelessness. With over 150 years of commitment to long‑term transformation in mind, body, and spirit, we strive to create thriving places for young people and flourishing communities.

About the Role

As a member of our Health and Wellbeing team, your role centres on providing essential fitness guidance and support to our community. While we recognise the importance of holistic wellness, we acknowledge that this role primarily involves entry‑level responsibilities in gym instruction. Here's how your role will contribute to our mission:

Qualifications and Basic Duties: Your key responsibilities include fitness floor supervision, designing exercise programs, and ensuring the safety and well‑being of our members. Qualifications and recognition by CIMSPA will be essential for this role as you guide individuals in their fitness journeys.

Customer Engagement: Delivering excellent customer care remains fundamental. Whether assisting members on‑site, online, or through on‑demand services, you'll adhere to YMCA customer care standards and provide top‑tier service.

Fitness Instruction: Your role will involve leading fitness classes, assisting with techniques, and providing training and lifestyle advice. As a Fitness and Wellbeing Instructor, you'll focus on the practical aspects of gym instruction, supporting members in achieving their fitness goals.

Administrative Tasks: Proficiency in the Association's software, including membership systems, is crucial for efficient administration. You'll manage gym‑related administrative tasks, such as maintaining records and updating member programs.

Community Engagement: While embracing a holistic approach to wellness, your primary focus will be on promoting active and healthy lifestyles within our community. This may include participating in community projects and events that align with our mission.

Staying Informed: Keeping abreast of the latest trends and developments in the Health and Wellbeing sector is essential. This knowledge will enable you to provide the best possible guidance to our members.

Team Collaboration: While overseeing day‑to‑day gym operations, you'll collaborate with Health and Wellbeing staff, sessional instructors, coaches, and volunteers. Your role involves opening and closing the gym, operating the reception area, and conducting tours and "Get Started" sessions.

In this role, you'll be crucial to our community members' fitness journey, offering support, guidance, and excellent service. Your dedication and expertise will contribute to individuals achieving their health and wellbeing goals.
