Job summary

A leading hospitality solution provider located in Umhlanga Rocks, South Africa, is seeking a qualified Health & Safety Officer to develop and implement safety policies. The successful candidate will conduct site inspections, deliver training on safety protocols, and support a safety-first culture. An ideal applicant will possess a Health & Safety qualification such as NEBOSH and have proven experience in a Health & Safety role, particularly within the hospitality sector.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a Health & Safety role within hospitality is advantageous.
  • Recognised Health & Safety qualification is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Health & Safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct site inspections and risk assessments.
  • Deliver training sessions on safety responsibilities.
  • Investigate incidents and recommend corrective actions.
  • Act as the main H&S point of contact for advice.

Skills

Proven experience in a similar Health & Safety role, ideally within hospitality
Strong communication and training delivery skills
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams
Up-to-date understanding of health, safety, and environmental legislation

National Senior Certificate
A recognised Health & Safety qualification (e.g., NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent)

Duties & Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and monitor Health & Safety policies, procedures, and systems. Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards. Deliver training sessions and toolbox talks to ensure employees understand their safety responsibilities. Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, preparing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and industry standards. Act as the main point of contact for all H&S matters, providing expert advice to management and staff. Support the business in fostering a positive safety culture across all departments.
