Job summary

A leading construction firm in Johannesburg is seeking an experienced health and safety officer to ensure compliance with health, safety and quality management standards. You will be responsible for maintaining safety systems, conducting risk assessments, and supporting branches with their health and safety needs. The ideal candidate has 5 to 10 years of experience and excellent communication skills. A competitive salary will be offered based on experience.

Well established company in the construction industry requires a well experienced health and safety officer to ensure that the company complies with all health, safety and quality management standards and regulations.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Responsible for compiling, maintaining and enforcing safety systems and procedures across all company operations and assisting all branches in implementing a safe working environment.
  • Safety File and Documentation Management – compile and maintain safety files for all contracts.
  • Supply branches with updated baseline safety files for use as templates.
  • Health and Safety Oversight – attend to all health and safety related matters across the company.
  • Conduct and update risk assessments and incidents, implement prevention strategies.
  • Inspect equipment and work environments to identify potential hazards.
  • Branch and Staff Support – assist branches with health and safety issues, QMS implementation.
  • Conduct safety meetings.
  • Quality Management & Assurance – ensuring timely submission of reports.
Desired Experience & Qualification
  • 5 to 10 years plus Health & Safety experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
