Job description
Introduction

The Head of Projects is responsible for leading the organization’s project execution function, ensuring that all electrical, mechanical, and multidisciplinary projects are planned, delivered, and closed out successfully.

The role provides strategic leadership, drives operational excellence, ensures contractual compliance, and oversees project managers and engineering teams to meet safety, quality, cost, and schedule objectives.

Duties & Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Projects Department, ensuring effective planning, execution, monitoring, and closing out of all engineering projects.

Establish and implement project management frameworks, governance structures, systems, and performance standards to support consistent and high-quality delivery.

Oversee the full project lifecycle to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and meet required technical and quality specifications.

Manage all contractual and commercial aspects of projects, ensuring compliance with NEC, FIDIC, and GCC conditions of contract, and leading resolution of variations, claims, extensions of time, and compensation events.

Provide technical oversight on engineering deliverables, including design reviews, risk assessments, constructability reviews, and ensuring compliance with engineering standards, legislation, and industry best practices.

Lead, mentor, and develop the Projects team, ensuring optimal resource planning, performance management, and a culture of accountability and excellence.

Drive project financial management, including cost control, budgeting, forecasting, and cash‑flow monitoring to support business objectives.

Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies to support successful project outcomes.

Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues, ensuring proactive problem‑solving and minimal disruption to delivery timelines.

Prepare and present accurate, timely project reports to EXCO and relevant governance structures, covering progress, risks, variances, and commercial matters.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering (mandatory).
  • Professional Registration as PrEng with ECSA (mandatory).
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) registration with PMI (advantageous).
Experience
