Job Overview

We are on the lookout for a firm and strategic leader to head up the production department and develop production managers and teams in a state of the art manufacturing operation.

Duties & Responsibilities

Manufacturing and Production Processes: Support the scalability of manufacturing to order for + / - countries while providing strategic direction. Implement and maintain where necessary a best-in-class manufacturing and production operation. Establish and roll out a plan to ensure all operators are cross functional capable. Strategically contribute to the improvement of plant availability and productivity. Lead and contribute to projects identification, development and implementation. Equipment: Contribute to improvements and expansion projects when required. Identify performance improvement opportunities with your teams. Collaborate with the required departments to roll out the required improvement project.

Team Leadership

Set objectives and manage performance of team members. Collaborate with departmental managers to ensure that staff are dynamically resourced across lines. Ensure departmental managers are training staff on the work instructions required to perform their job. Apply consistent discipline and fairness to direct reports. Train and develop staff ongoing to facilitate skill development and succession. Conduct regular team meetings and ensure effective communication. Ensure working hours and overtime is controlled.

Quality

Commit to quality as a result of clear focus, sincere effort, intelligent direction and skilful execution. Ensure ISO standards are implemented and maintained. Instil a Quality mindset and understanding for all staff members in all production departments.

Safe Operating Environment

Ensure correct PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is used for all production activities. Ensure that Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) activities in all departments are carried out. Ensure risk assessments on all activities in your departments are carried out. Ensure work instructions are updated on an annual basis or when the process changes. Ensure that planned job observations are carried out for all team members in the various departments. Ensure that near misses are identified and reported to EHS committee.

Desired Experience & Qualification

BSc (Engineering / Production related).

10 years FMCG in operational capacity.

Preferably project experience in packaging / production / process.
