Curro Holdings seeks to appoint a head of high school (full‑time) at Grantleigh in Richards Bay to commence duties in January 2026.

Curro Holdings is seeking to appoint a head of high school who is a strategic thinker and can lead with heart and purpose at Grantleigh in Richards Bay. The head of high school is responsible for managing school targets through the effective application of Curro policies and procedures as adapted and customised to the needs of the school. The head of high school is also responsible for the active teaching, knowledge transfer, skills development and growth of positive attitudes among learners through integrated and focused teaching approaches and mentoring staff. In addition, the role involves teaching and coordinating specific subjects as per the Curro and IEB curricula for the senior phase.

Key performance areas
  • Develop an annual business and strategic plan and manage its implementation, including academics, sport and cultural activities, social responsibility, marketing, brand image and facilities management.
  • Plan and manage school administration and academics, including planners and timetables, curriculum development and implementation, work schemes, class observations, staff duties and communication.
  • Manage and mentor staff, including recruitment, appraisals, disciplinary issues, skills development and mediation.
  • Manage interventions and disciplinary processes and mentor staff in pastoral duties.
  • Manage student leadership programmes and fundraising.
  • Develop and manage the school budget, including payroll.
  • Manage health, safety and security.
  • Manage assessments and reporting, from setting up timetables to evaluating remedial actions.
  • Plan and manage classroom/learning environment set‑up for optimal performance, including managing the provision and maintenance of learning tools and equipment.
  • Plan and manage assessments (formal and continuous) and homework, including moderation, revision and supervision.
  • Teach and tutor classes and participate in outreach drives and events.
Qualifications, experience and skills
  • BEd degree and/or PGCE in FET education, with an honours degree in education advantageous.
  • Minimum 3‑5 years’ experience as a phase head or deputy head at a high school.
  • Proven management and leadership skills and business acumen.
  • Tech‑savvy with an eye for modern educational tools.
  • Ability to lead and mentor staff members.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and planning skills.
  • Willing and able to work extended hours, travel and to become involved in all aspects of school life.
