Job summary

Allan Gray is seeking a values-led finance executive to provide strategic financial leadership and help shape the organisation’s long-term future. The role acts as a trusted adviser to the COO, Board and senior leaders, guiding enterprise-wide decisions and long-term financial direction.

The Head of Finance will lead a finance team, ensure governance and integrity, and build relationships with regulators, auditors and shareholders. Relocation assistance is available.

Qualifications

• 10–15 years post-qualification experience, with 5–8 years in finance leadership.
• Experience in asset management.
• Deep expertise in strategic finance, financial reporting, treasury, capital management, risk, governance, and commercial partnering.
• Experience supporting Board governance; IFRS exposure advantageous.

Group Executive | Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer

The opportunity

Allan Gray is seeking an accomplished, values-led finance executive to provide strategic financial leadership and help shape the organisation’s long-term future.

In this Group Executive role, the Head of Finance will serve as a trusted adviser to the Chief Operating Officer, Board and senior leaders, shaping enterprise-wide decisions and the organisation’s long-term financial direction.

Alongside technical expertise and experience, the successful candidate will be a principled and thoughtful leader who acts with integrity, exercises sound judgement, collaborates effectively and thinks independently, while putting clients first, pursuing excellence and taking a long-term perspective.

Your mandate

You will:

• Lead financial planning and management, budgeting and forecasting, reporting, financial risk controls and regulatory compliance.
• Provide clear commercial and financial insight to support complex decisions and growth opportunities.
• Maintain the highest standards of governance, financial integrity, and stakeholder confidence.
• Build trusted relationships with the Board, regulators, auditors, shareholders, and strategic partners.
• Lead and develop a high-performing finance team comprising Group Finance, Group Tax, Business Services, Payroll, and CA and SAIT Trainees.

The leader we are looking for

You will bring:

• Additional qualifications, such as a master’s degree or a CFA designation, are advantageous.
• At least 10 - 15 years of post-qualification work experience, with 5 - 8 years of finance leadership experience.
• Experience in asset management.
• Deep expertise in strategic finance, financial reporting, treasury, capital management, risk, governance, and commercial business partnering.
• Experience supporting Board governance, with JSE reporting or IFRS exposure advantageous.
• Integrity, sound judgement, independent thinking
