A leading advertising educational institution in South Africa is seeking a Head of Department for Marketing. The role involves providing leadership across campuses, managing academic performance, and enhancing student success. Candidates must have a Master's or PhD in Marketing and a strong record in academic leadership. The position is based at either the Bryanston or Cape Town campus.

Role Description: This is a full-time on-site role for a Head of Department, Marketing at AAA School of Advertising.
Applicants can be based at either the Bryanston or Cape Town campus.
As a senior academic across campuses and business units, the HoD will manage the operational delivery and performance to achieve the overall department goals.
Provide functional and academic leadership and enforce quality assurance across delivery/campuses and in all modes of delivery.
Take a leading role in curriculum innovation, design and development and implementation into modules in programmes in the department.
The HoD drafts and contributes to all academic operational information required for programmes such as study guides, module outlines, timetables, assessment schedules and prescribed text and resource lists.
The HoD also works closely with other HoDs in this Institution and all Business Units HoDs to ensure alignment and consistent quality and practice.
The HoD reports directly to the Dean of Faculty.
Provide leadership to the department in respect of learning and teaching, research and engagement.
Co-determine the department's goals and objectives and joint accountability with the Dean.
Accountable for the successful implementation of the teaching and learning plan.
Enhancing and achieving department objectives and projects.
Co-determine and develop an annual plan, joint accountability with the Dean.
Managing and supervising staff in the department.
Work collaboratively with campus managers and the Creative HoD.
Manage the allocation of the workload of staff, joint accountability with the Dean.
Enhancing staff relations and building the team towards a student-centred, experience-lead department.
Participating in all sales, marketing and PR endeavours to position the Department, Faculty, and the Institution as world class.
Implement department learning and teaching practices and processes on campus and drive alignment across delivery sites.
Improve the design of the qualifications / curriculum / programmes to ensure shortfalls are addressed against external and internal programme evaluations and reviews.
Innovative use of technology and all media, optimum standardisation levels across delivery sites for programmes, quality assurance, and creating a rich and diverse learning experience.
Determine strategies to improve student success and maximise throughput and student success.
Participate in enrolment planning to ensure optimal enrolment as per faculty plan.
Liaise with students and parents, build relationships, and resolve escalations.
Provide pastoral care and mentorship to students.
Establish networks / partnerships with business, governments, academic institutions and non-profit organisations for the creation of Work Learning opportunities.
Establish networks / partnerships with agencies, businesses and non-profit organisations for the Campaign Activations modules.
Explore bursary opportunities for students.
Management and Leadership: Joint accountability with leadership team for management effectiveness of the department.
Personal effectiveness, wholeness and development of staff.
Values-based behaviour leadership and personal compliance.
Minimum of a Master's degree or PhD qualification in Marketing, Digital Marketing, or related field.
Demonstration of progress towards a PhD will be an advantage.
Three to Five years' experience in higher education, preferably in an academic leadership role.
Lecture 12 to 15 hours (3-4 modules a week).
A record of scholarship research and publications.
Media and thought leadership contributions will be an advantage.
Experience in mentoring, coaching and managing lecturers.
Quality assessment experience in the updating and development of qualifications.
Contribution to student retention.
Where applicable / mandatory, professional registration with a relevant board.
Must be based in Johannesburg (Bryanston campus) or Cape Town (CBD campus).
Assist in the development of relevant (Executive) courses for the industry and contribute to Alt_Ed.
