Job Summary: The Head of Data and Analytics is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving enterprise‑wide data and analytics capabilities to support data‑informed decision‑making, innovation, and strategic growth.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop a cutting‑edge, world‑class business intelligence and analytical function to support decision making, strategy formulation, and stakeholder management.
- Develop and implement a group‑wide data strategy to determine and meet the data needs of the organisation.
- Use business intelligence and advanced analytics to advise and inform business on issues impacting strategy and operations.
- Monitor performance management implementation in line with organisational strategy using data.
- Ensure system decisions support the defined system architecture and minimise new report requests by utilising self‑service reporting and existing reports.
- Review and approve business requirement documents (BRDs) and change requests that impact analytics and data platforms.
- Assist the business in automating and optimising processes and systems using automated BI reporting and predictive analytics.
- Oversee data governance administration, including policy development, compliance, security, and confidentiality.
- Coordinate procedures for information security, legal and statutory compliance (e.g. PAIA, POPIA, ECTA).
- Manage data integration projects, API and ESB development/architecture, ensuring structured data integration between internal systems and third‑party providers.
- Report progress on a weekly and monthly basis, adhering to deadlines and ensuring accuracy and quality.
- Identify and develop talent within the team, support recruitment, and manage training and career development.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum of 6 years of managerial experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in strategic analysis and business insights.
- Experience implementing data governance, BI, advanced analytics, and data warehousing.
- Experience in complex system integration and API/ESB architecture.
- Thorough understanding of database management systems, data warehousing, advanced analytics, data lakes, business intelligence, and data reporting services.
- Knowledge of business strategy formulation, business policies, processes, and legal compliance.
- Insurance or Financial Services industry experience preferred.
- Honours degree (NQF Level 8) in Maths, Statistics, Computer Science, or IT.
- Business Management Degree (e.g., MBA) preferred.
