Agrinet, a wholesale supplier and distributor of a wide range of products that cater to the hardware retail, industrial and irrigation markets in Africa is looking for a Head: Logistics and Distribution who will be responsible for end-to-end logistics, encompassing warehousing and distribution operations and management in support of the operations of the organisation.
Responsible for strategy creation and implementation for logistics and distribution
- Develop comprehensive logistics and distribution strategies aligned with business
- Use IT systems to manage stock levels, delivery times, and transport costs.
- Coordinate and control the order cycle using associated information systems.
- Evaluate performance and quality data from IT systems to plan and implement continuous improvements.
- Work on new supply strategies to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Plan vehicle routes to optimise delivery times and reduce transportation costs.
- Develop business by gaining new contracts, analysing logistical problems, and producing innovative solutions.
- Understand, work with, and potentially help to develop e-commerce solutions to improve distribution processes.
- Implement health and safety procedures to ensure compliance and operational safety.
- Continually strive to improve business performance within the constraints of legislation, fuel costs, and rising environmental pressures.
Responsible for operational efficiency and performance improvement
- Use data from IT systems to evaluate and monitor performance and quality.
- Plan and manage logistics and distribution projects to ensure timely and successful completion.
- Develop and implement strategies for continuous improvement in operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Use specialist knowledge, such as mechanical-handling systems, to provide consultancy services and improve operational processes.
- Ensure the effective coordination of the entire supply chain to optimize the flow of goods from suppliers to consumers.
Customer and supplier relationship management
- Liaise and negotiate with customers and suppliers to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.
- Analyse customer feedback and logistical challenges to develop effective solutions.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by delivering products on time and at optimal costs.
Compliance and Risk Management
- Manage risks associated with logistics and distribution operations.
- Ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements in all aspects of logistics and distribution.
- Develop contingency plans to mitigate potential disruptions in the supply chain.
People and Performance Management
- Allocate and manage staff resources according to changing needs and project requirements.
- Oversee the recruitment, training, and development of the logistics and distribution team.
- Set clear objectives and performance goals for team members.
- Motivate and lead the team to achieve high levels of performance and productivity.
- Manage staff training issues to ensure team members have the necessary skills and knowledge.
- Implement staff management strategies to ensure high levels of morale and job satisfaction.
