Job description
Purpose Statement

To develop and execute the Capitec group’s data strategy, driving business value through data analytics and AI.
Foster and build a culture of analytical excellence across the organisation and align advanced analytics capabilities with business objectives, driving innovation through analytics, data science and business intelligence and ensuring the integrity, accessibility, and strategic use of structured and unstructured enterprise data
To work cross-functionally across product teams, and between platform and product teams to transform data, analytics and AI into a competitive asset that fuels growth, operational efficiency, and enhances personalised client experiences.

Education (Minimum)
  • Honours Degree in Analytical/Data/Technical
Education (Ideal or Preferred)
  • Doctoral Degree in Analytical/Data/Technical
Knowledge and Experience

Experience:

  • 10+yrs in data and analytics management in a senior role overseeing a large organizational unit
  • Experience in engaging with executive stakeholders
  • Experience in managing senior team members and/or large teams
  • Proven experience of using influence and relationships to drive and achieve objectives, driving adoption of new ways of work with the required organisation wide buy-in

Ideally;

  • Experience in Financial Services or Fintech
  • Working in a large enterprise organization in a network based structure
  • Function/technical specific:
  • Experience of identifying and associating strategic business requirements
  • Generating value through advanced analytics that generate business value
  • Driving a pragmatic and creative approach to developing and delivering meaningful insights within given constraints such as data availability, time, and resources
  • Sound understanding of the analytics capabilities to be able to lead and direct the required capability areas

Knowledge:

  • Solid understanding of the analytics capabilities to be able to lead and direct the required capability areas
  • Knowledge of advanced analytical capabilities that can be applied to data and information to generate insights
  • Knowledge and experience of the data product life cycle/value chain.
  • Expert knowledge of analytics best practice and data management
  • Commercial, business and financial principles and practices.
  • Building and developing effective teams.
  • Governance and risk management principles
  • Relevant IT systems, business products, processes, policies and systems
