Head Chef / Kitchen Manager

Overview

Coffee Court – Brooklyn, Pretoria. Coffee Court Brooklyn is growing, and we're looking for a skilled, organised, and creative Head Chef / Kitchen Manager to lead our kitchen and take our café menu to the next level.

About the Role

You will be responsible for running the full back‑of‑house operation — from menu execution to stock control, kitchen hygiene, staff management, and delivering consistent quality in a fast‑paced café environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee kitchen operations & daily food service
  • Maintain food standards, taste consistency & plating presentation
  • Manage kitchen staff (rostering, training, performance)
  • Stock ordering, supplier management & cost control
  • Ensure kitchen hygiene & food safety compliance (R + COA standards)
  • Menu planning, specials development & seasonal trends
  • Work closely with the owner & front‑of‑house team for smooth service flow
  • Maintain GP % and minimise wastage
Requirements
  • Minimum 3–5 years experience as Head Chef / Sous Chef / Kitchen Manager
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Able to manage a small but busy café‑style kitchen
  • Experience with burgers, tacos, light meals & café‑style food is an advantage
  • Must be reliable, organised and able to work under pressure
  • Passion for quality, presentation & customer experience
  • Must be available on weekends (padel events, brunch service, etc.)
