Directing end-to-end financial operations across South Africa, the UK, and Kenya, this position delivers strategic financial oversight and best-practice internal controls within a multi-currency international structure. The role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of group financial records while providing strategic insight to support overall organisational objectives. This leadership role oversees financial reporting, budgeting, treasury management, and external audit relationships. Leading a team of two direct reports, the position serves as a key financial advisor on investment, funding, and cost optimisation decisions across multiple jurisdictions. This is a full-time in office position offering micro flexible hours working 8am - 5pm, Monday to Friday.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end financial management for the group across South Africa, the UK, and Kenya, implementing best-practice controls in a complex, multi-currency environment.
- Develop and implement group-wide financial strategy, policies, and procedures aligned with business objectives.
- Own financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, and annual board reports, as well as performance analysis against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management to ensure alignment with group strategic initiatives.
- Manage external audits and regulatory relationships, ensuring compliance across South African (Companies Act, IFRS, SARS), UK (UK GAAP/IFRS, HMRC, Companies House), and Kenyan (Companies Act, IFRS, KRA) requirements.
- Manage group treasury, including cash flow forecasting, foreign exchange risk (ZAR, GBP, KES), banking relationships, and funding arrangements.
- Provide strategic financial advice to executive management, the Board, and operational leadership on investment decisions, acquisitions, funding, and cost optimisation.
- Lead, coach, and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Qualified accountant holding a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting/Finance (or higher).
- 10+ years' experience in financial management, including leading the finance function of a multinational group with a proven track record in managing finance operations.
- Demonstrated experience finalising accounts in accordance with current regulations in South Africa, the United Kingdom, and Kenya.
- Extensive knowledge of IFRS, multi-currency consolidation, international tax planning (including transfer pricing), and cross-border compliance.
- Strong experience in foreign exchange risk management (ZAR, GBP, KES), intercompany transactions, and group treasury.
- Strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and communication and presentation skills.
- Software experience: QuickBooks & Sage.
