Job Description

GRADUATE PROGRAMME: TECHNOLOGY AND AI

Why join us…

As South Africa’s largest media brand, we’re always looking for top tech talent. At Media24 Technology we have a great time working on popular brands like News24, Netwerk24 and more – and we’re looking for someone who’ll come along for the adventure. If you’re passionate about news, and tech and eager to innovate in artificial intelligence, we invite you to join our exciting journey!

What you’ll be doing…

This is a 12-month internship, starting 1 February 2027, where you’ll do cool things like:

• Learn new technology. Over here we use cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform and we’ll show you how to get into it too.
• Work in collaborative teams. You’ll work in cross-functional teams to design, develop and implement AI solutions that address key business challenges.
• Develop an AI project. You’ll take part in the full lifecycle of AI project development, from initial concept and data collection to model training, evaluation and deployment. You’ll also develop and maintain scalable and efficient AI systems using a variety of programming languages and tools.
• Do research. You’ll stay abreast of trends by exploring new AI technologies and methodologies.
• The official stuff…

This is an internship, so we don’t expect five years of work experience (in fact, we expect none!). But there are a few things we do need you to have such as:

• A BSC Hons degree or equivalent with Computer Science or Engineering subjects.
• You must be a South African citizen

We’d love it if you’re…

• Based in Cape Town or Johannesburg (we are full time in the office in the Cape Town Foreshore and in Randburg)
• Willing to learn, ask questions and apply what you’ve learnt
• Curious and interested in the work you do and the media industry in general
• Able to communicate clearly and ask questions when you need to
• Passionate about the work you do and do it to the highest quality standards
• Interested in using analytical thinking to solve problems – and that you do it in an organised and meticulous way
• Comfortable with ambiguity

What you can expect from us…

We care a great deal about what we do, so you can expect to be fully immersed with our data science and engineering team. Successful candidates for the graduation programme will get:

• The opportunity to learn and earn workplace experience in the exciting world of engineering and artificial intelligence
• A 12-month contract
• Rotation through different projects in areas such as natural language processing, and predictive analytics
• Mentorship from experienced technology professionals
• Opportunities for professional development and certifications
• Opportunities for further study and skills development through our online learning platforms

Closing date for applications: 30 September 2026

Given the employment equity policy of Media24, preference will be given to suitable candidates from the designated groups.
