This position is based in Gauteng.
Responsibilities
- Plans organize and controls small sized projects with guidance from a Senior or Principal Engineer.
- Prepares technical reports with guidance from a Professional Engineer.
- Applies knowledge gained in technical functions to solve Engineering problems.
- Assigns work, checks and manages work allocated to more junior engineers, technicians or draughtspeople where applicable.
- Co-ordinates and takes responsibility for all aspects of a small project or a portion of a larger project.
- Programs and ensures that deadlines are met on the project or portions of the project for which he / she is responsible.
- Ensures that all designs, reports and drawings produced by him / her are checked and signed off at the required level.
- Assists in compiling accurate project cost estimates and cash flow projections.
- Ensures that all drawings produced by him / her are signed and issued to site timeously.
- Effectively deals with queries from site staff, enlisting the help of supervisors where required.
- Attends and constructively contributes to design meetings and site meetings.
- Takes notes and produces minutes of meetings.
- Ensures that minutes are approved by the person chairing the meeting and distributes minutes no later than one week after the meeting.
- Drafts project related letters for signature by the relevant Project Manager.
- Receives and checks contractor's payment certificates; once verified correct, arranges for signature by the relevant project manager / project director.
- Ensures that all aspects of the project under his / her control are handled strictly in accordance with the Naidu QMS.
- Makes effective use of support staff where applicable.
- Makes good decisions on own initiative.
- Queries details suggesting more acceptable solutions.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
- 0-3 years' experience.
- Preference will be given, but not limited to, candidates from designated groups in terms of the Employment Equity Act.
