Job summary

BigTalent in Cape Town is looking for a Graduate Data Engineer to join a global Data and AI consultancy. You’ll work with seasoned data engineers and apply your BEng training to real-world data and technology challenges.

You’ll gain hands-on experience with Python, SQL, data pipelines, ETL, data modelling, AWS, and CI/CD, while contributing to client projects in a collaborative, learning-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Completing your BEng degree in 2026 and pursuing a career in Data Engineering.
• Join a global Data and AI consultancy's Data Engineering team to apply engineering skills to data challenges.
• Collaborate with experienced engineers on real client projects and develop practical data solutions.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside experienced Data Engineers to learn and contribute to data projects.
• Develop data pipelines and ETL processes to move and transform data.
• Assist with data modelling and architecture for scalable solutions.
• Engage with cloud technologies, especially AWS, and modern data tooling.
• Contribute to CI/CD and automation efforts and implement Infrastructure as Code.
• Participate in data governance and security practices on client engagements.

As a Graduate Data Engineer, you'll work alongside experienced Data Engineers and technology professionals while developing practical skills across:

• Python and SQL


• Data pipelines and ETL processes


• Data modelling and architecture


• Cloud technologies, particularly AWS


• Large-scale data processing


• Database design and optimisation


• CI/CD and automation


• Infrastructure as Code


• Data governance and security

You'll contribute to real client projects and help design and build data solutions that solve complex business problems.
