Qualifications

• CA(SA) or Financial Graduate with post graduate tax qualification is essential.
• 5+ years of relevant post-articles experience in accounting, taxation and financial management.
• Strong practical experience in both South African and international taxation.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge including IFRS, foreign exchange, deferred tax.
• Experience in preparing and reviewing annual financial statements and working with external auditors.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Manage SA and international tax compliance across direct and indirect taxes.
• Coordinate submission of annual Research and Development tax incentive claims.
• Provide technical guidance on local and international tax legislation and cross-border transactions.
• Engage with SARS and external tax advisors on queries, reviews, audits and matters.
• Review tax opinions, assess developments and identify tax risks and opportunities.

Our client, a leading organization within the Engineering sector with a focus on innovative solutions and sustainable growth, is seeking a skilled Tax and Finance Specialist to join their team in Stellenbosch.

What You'll Do:

• Manage and oversee South African and international tax compliance, including corporate income tax, VAT, payroll taxes, and foreign tax obligations.

• Coordinate the submission of Research and Development tax incentive claims.

• Provide expert guidance on local and international tax legislation, treaties, and cross-border transactions.

• Engage with SARS and foreign tax authorities, supporting audits, reviews, and technical queries.

• Review tax opinions, assess legislative changes, and identify tax risks and opportunities.

• Prepare and review financial statements, deferred tax calculations, and IFRS-related accounting issues.

• Offer technical accounting support on complex transactions, including foreign exchange and revenue recognition.

• Support external statutory audits through the preparation of audit packs and schedules.

• Assist in managing the Finance Department, including month-end and year-end reporting, intercompany transactions, and financial controls.

• Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and strategic initiatives with a focus on tax efficiency.

• Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, processes, and reporting.

Requirements:

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or Taxation.

• Substantial hands-on experience in South African taxation.

• Practical international and offshore tax experience.

• Strong knowledge of tax compliance, international tax, and IFRS.

• Experience in preparing financial statements and tax planning.

• Familiarity with foreign exchange considerations.
