Job summary

Exceed Human Resource Consultants in Stellenbosch is seeking a software consultant to develop and maintain web and mobile applications for an innovative agri-tech platform, with a focus on geospatial data management and precision agriculture.

You will work with cloud services, databases, and remote sensing, collaborating with the development team to deliver scalable solutions; 1+ years in software engineering and fluency in English and Afrikaans are required.

Qualifications

• Degree or postgraduate qualification in Computer Science, GeoInformatics, or a related field.
• 1+ years' experience in software engineering.
• Experience with React, TypeScript, Next.js, HTML, CSS, and React Native (Expo).
• Knowledge of geospatial technologies, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, AWS cloud services, Linux CLI, and remote sensing.
• Exposure to QGIS, PyQGIS, and modern AI tools such as ChatGPT, Codex, or Claude.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to learn quickly and work collaboratively.
• Fluent in English and Afrikaans.
• Based in or willing to work in Stellenbosch, with a hybrid schedule (3 days in-office, 2 days remote).

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain web and mobile applications for an innovative agri-tech platform.
• Design, implement, and optimise geospatial data management and precision agriculture solutions.
• Work with cloud infrastructure, databases, and remote sensing technologies to support farm management systems.
• Collaborate with the development team to deliver scalable, high-quality software solutions.
• Troubleshoot technical issues, improve system performance, and contribute to ongoing product development.
