A waste management company in Pretoria is seeking individuals to handle healthcare risk waste. Candidates should be safety-conscious, physically fit, and ready to work in a regulated environment. Responsibilities include moving waste containers, maintaining cleanliness, and adhering to safety protocols. Previous experience in waste management is advantageous. This role requires teamwork, reliability, and communication skills.
Safely handle and move healthcare risk waste containers, boxes, and bags throughout the plant.
Load and offload waste from collection vehicles and transfer it to the designated treatment area.
Assist in the operation of autoclaves, shredders, or other waste treatment machinery.
Sort, weigh, and label waste according to type and treatment requirement.
Maintain a clean and hygienic work area, including waste processing zones, equipment, and vehicles.
Adhere strictly to company protocols for infection control, environmental protection, and health & safety compliance.
Ensure correct use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) at all times.
Report any unsafe conditions, equipment faults, or incidents immediately to the supervisor.
Support the plant’s recycling and recovery initiatives by segregating waste and minimising landfill disposal.
Participate in safety drills, training, and toolbox talks.
Assist during the plant’s waste sterilisation, shredding, and destruction processes as required.
Record daily waste movements and assist with basic administrative tasks when needed.
Grade 10 / NQF Level 2 (Grade 12 advantageous).
Previous experience in waste management, manufacturing, or environmental services will be an advantage.
Familiarity with handling healthcare risk waste or hazardous materials preferred.
Physically fit and able to perform manual labour safely.
Ability to follow instructions and work in compliance with health, safety, and environmental guidelines.
Willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays when required.

Reliable, punctual, and able to work under pressure.

Must wear company-issued PPE at all times (safety boots, gloves, overalls, mask, etc.).
