Job description
Overview

We are seeking a hands‑on General Manager / Operations Director to take full ownership of day‑to‑day operations within a timber truss manufacturing and installation company in Pretoria, Gauteng.

The ideal candidate will oversee design, production, dispatch, and site installations, manage key client relationships, and drive operational improvements, freeing company directors to focus on business development, systems optimisation, and strategic growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the full operational process: design, manufacturing, dispatch, and site installations.
  • Manage core client accounts, handle escalations, and ensure delivery performance meets expectations.
  • Visit sites as required to resolve issues and maintain client relationships.
  • Identify process inefficiencies and implement improvement plans.
  • Lead, manage, and develop multi‑disciplinary teams across design, production, and dispatch.
  • Track and report on operational KPIs (DIFOT %, rework %, margin %, client satisfaction).
  • Provide operational feedback and performance insights to directors.
Requirements
  • BEng / BSc Civil or Structural Engineering (non‑negotiable)
  • MBA or equivalent postgraduate business qualification (advantageous)
  • 710 years in construction manufacturing or structural engineering operations
  • Proven experience managing multi‑disciplinary teams (design, production, site)
  • Experience in timber or roofing‑related manufacturing is a plus
  • Comfortable operating in both office and field environments
