An established and fast-growing logistics and transport company is seeking an experienced and commercially minded General Manager to join its senior leadership team. About the Role
The General Manager is responsible for the full leadership function of the business, including strategic development, operational direction, financial performance, organisational structure, and talent management. The role requires strong alignment between operational execution and the company’s long-term strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement short- and long‑term business strategies.
- Identify new opportunities for growth and drive execution.
- Ensure alignment between operational goals and the organisation’s strategic direction.
- Provide overall leadership across all management functions.
Financial Management
- Lead profitability, budgeting, and cash‑flow processes.
- Identify and manage financial and operational risks.
- Deliver accurate monthly reporting covering profitability, debtors, and operational expenditure.
Operational Management
- Oversee processes, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
- Lead daily operations, ensuring optimal utilisation of resources and consistent delivery standards.
People Leadership
- Manage organisational structures, role allocation, succession planning, and talent development.
- Support effective communication, performance management, and employee engagement across the business.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and external partners.
- Continuously improve service levels to maximise client satisfaction.
Minimum Requirements
- A relevant degree in Business Management, Logistics, Commerce, or a related field.
- An MBA qualification will be a strong advantage.
- At least 15 years’ industry experience, with 10+ years in a senior management role (preferably in logistics, transport, or an operational environment).
- Proven track record of meeting and managing to defined profit targets.
- Ability to conceptualise, develop, and implement strategy effectively.
- Strong leadership, decision‑making, and organisational skills.
- Proven ability to build sustainable client relationships.
