Overview

A renowned 4-star hunting lodge in the Eastern Cape is seeking a highly experienced and hands-on General Manager to take full responsibility for the lodge’s operations, guest experience, and team management. This is a senior role ideal for a strong hospitality leader with experience in lodge or game reserve management, particularly in properties offering safari or hunting experiences.

About the Role

The General Manager will oversee all lodge operations, ensuring a seamless blend of hospitality, field operations, and guest satisfaction. You will be responsible for the financial performance of the lodge, the motivation and training of your team, and upholding the property’s reputation for warm hospitality, operational excellence, and memorable hunting experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all aspects of lodge operations, including guest services, housekeeping, food & beverage, HR, finance, and maintenance
  • Oversee hunting and safari logistics, ensuring guest safety, professionalism, and exceptional experiences
  • Lead, train, and motivate a diverse team to uphold high standards of service and efficiency
  • Ensure smooth coordination between field guides, trackers, and lodge teams
  • Drive profitability through effective budgeting, cost control, and operational planning
  • Maintain strong relationships with guests, suppliers, landowners, and management stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and conservation regulations
Requirements
  • Minimum 8+ years’ experience in hospitality or lodge management, with at least 3 years in a senior GM capacity
  • Proven experience in bush lodge or hunting lodge environments
  • Strong financial, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and guest relations abilities
  • A genuine passion for wildlife, the outdoors, and conservation-based tourism
