Our client, an International Mining Company, is seeking a qualified Mechanical Engineer to join their team for a mining project on a fixed-term contract.

The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that all mechanical equipment and installations comply with the Mine Health and Safety Act and other relevant regulations.

A GCC is a requirement for this position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and monitor safety policies and procedures related to mechanical engineering.
  • Conduct or supervise regular inspections and testing of mechanical systems to identify potential issues and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Perform risk assessments to identify potential hazards related to mechanical equipment and operations.
  • Implement risk mitigation strategies and ensure that appropriate safety measures are in place.
  • Lead investigations into mechanical failures, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes.
  • Oversee the design review, installation, and commissioning of new mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Ensure that all new installations meet safety and operational standards.
  • Ensure that all personnel are competent and aware of the latest safety practices and procedures.
Qualifications and Experience
  • National Diploma / Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Government Certificate of Competencies (GCC) registration.
  • At least 8 years of experience within mining, specifically mineral processing industry.
