Gallery Assistant at Urban Contemporary Gallery in East LondonBSMT seeks a Gallery Assistant to join our friendly team.

We are looking for someone energetic, with a passion for the arts and a willingness to grow within their position, as well as someone who is comfortable working with the public and behind the scenes in an administrative capacity. You should be personable and professional, comfortable working within a small team but equally comfortable interacting with guests on opening nights.

You must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, good written communication, and be highly organised, able to prioritise and work through tasks quickly and unsupervised.

Photography skills are essential for this role.

Taking initiative and thinking proactively is key.

Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent customer service skills in-person and via email.
  • Assist with gallery operations and administrative tasks.
  • Photograph artwork for catalogues and gallery private views.
  • Manage social media platforms (IG, FB, LinkedIn).
  • Work with Google Drive (Sheets, Docs) and Dropbox.
  • Utilize WIX for website management.
Minimum Requirements
  • At least 2 years of experience in a client-facing role.
  • Passion for and knowledge of Urban and Contemporary art.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop and InDesign) is essential.
  • Proactive self-starter who is organised, practical, and reliable.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines.

  • Salary: Starting at £
  • Hours of Work: Initially 2 days a week (one weekday and one weekend day) with half an hour for lunch, 8 hours per day.
