Job summary

Triton Academy provides learnership programmes in several South African locations. The Freight Handler Learnership is an 18-month full-time programme designed to develop skills in freight handling, warehouse operations and transport activities, combining classroom learning with practical workplace exposure.

Learners receive mentorship and preparation for the assessment, with a stipend during the programme. This opportunity is open as a talent pool for future learnership intakes in Port Elizabeth.

Qualifications

• Must be a South African citizen
• Must have a clear criminal record
• Must be between 23 and 35 years old
• Must have Matric/Grade 12, TVET N3 or NQF Level 3
• Must have a minimum 40% pass in English
• Must have a minimum 40% pass in Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy
• Must not have a bursary obligation with another company
• Must not currently be employed
• Must not currently be studying
• Must be medically fit
• Must be able to read, write and communicate in English
• Must be numerically literate
• Must be able to work shifts
• Must be willing to work weekends and public holidays
• Must have own reliable transport
• Applicants should preferably live within a 20–25 kilometre radius of the company

Responsibilities

• Loading and off-loading goods from vehicles
• Preparing vehicles for trips
• Receiving and dispatching freight
• Delivering and collecting goods and stock
• Picking and packing stock accurately
• Receiving incoming stock
• Stacking goods correctly
• Securing goods for safe transportation
• Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment
• Performing transport-related and other ancillary duties
