Talent Shore is seeking a mid-level freelancer in Johannesburg to rapidly prototype and refine the touchscreen UI for a hardware demo unit. You will integrate the front end with backend services via REST APIs and troubleshoot UI-hardware interactions on the unit itself.

You will start with handover materials and leverage existing data logs to begin backend-adjacent work, while maintaining flexible hours to suit project needs.

• Comfort with rapid prototyping and iteration.
• Some embedded systems exposure or hardware/software familiarity.

What They Will Do

• Get up to speed via handover from Billy and Jack
• Build/refine the touchscreen UI for the demo unit (runs on the hardware itself, not a web or mobile app)
• Integrate the front end with the backend over REST APIs
• Work within the existing hardware setup, troubleshooting where UI meets hardware
• Begin backend-adjacent work early using the physical unit's existing data logs, ahead of full handover if needed

What We're Looking For

• Comfort with rapid prototyping and iteration, rather than deep embedded C++ development
• Micro-electronics or fixed-hardware experience preferred (some embedded systems exposure, or general comfort with software running on hardware)
• Mid-level freelancer, flexible working hours
