About the Role
The Foundation Phase Assistant plays a vital supportive role in nurturing the academic, spiritual, and entrepreneurial growth of learners in Grades R–3. Working alongside the class educator, the assistant contributes to creating a caring, disciplined, and stimulating environment that reflects our Christian ethos and hospitality-driven school culture.

This position is ideal for an individual passionate about early childhood development, who brings creativity, warmth, and initiative to the classroom. The successful candidate will help support classroom activities, learner engagement, and early entrepreneurship projects—ensuring every child feels seen, supported, and inspired.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Foundation Phase Educator with daily classroom routines, preparation of materials, and lesson delivery.
  • Assist learners with literacy, numeracy, and life skills activities aligned with the CAPS curriculum.
  • Encourage positive learner behaviour and contribute to a structured, nurturing environment.
  • Supervise learners during break, aftercare, and school events.
  • Support early entrepreneurship and creative learning initiatives such as mini-markets or project-based activities.
  • Maintain order, cleanliness, and a welcoming classroom atmosphere.
  • Participate in staff training, devotions, and professional development as part of the Lion Pride team.
  • Assist with administrative or menial tasks to allow more teaching time for the educator.
Minimum Requirements
  • Relevant Early Childhood Development (ECD) qualification (NQF Level 4 or higher), or currently enrolled in such a programme.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with young children in an educational or childcare environment.
  • Police clearance.
Advantageous
  • NQF Level 5 or Diploma in Early Childhood Education.
  • Experience in entrepreneurship or school-based enrichment activities.
  • Extramural skills (music, art, sport, or creative programmes).
  • A growth mindset and enthusiasm for innovative education models.
