Job summary

A recruitment firm is seeking a Production Planner in Cape Town, South Africa. The role involves daily communication with management for stock maintenance, planning maintenance, ensuring safety standards, and managing stock levels. Ideal candidates will have experience in a unionized environment and knowledge of SHEQ compliance. Responsibilities also include motivating production staff and negotiating with suppliers for optimal material delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate daily with the commercial manager for stock level maintenance.
  • Plan maintenance schedules.
  • Assist with problem-solving on production line breakdowns.
  • Ensure safety and good housekeeping in the factory.
  • Organize and control production facility for quality output.
  • Manage stock levels and procurement procedures.
  • Conduct stock counts and audits with finance.
  • Track stock losses and production breakages.
  • Negotiate with suppliers for timely delivery of materials.
  • Maintain good industrial relations in a unionized environment.
  • Manage labour productivity and production costs.
  • Ensure compliance with SHEQ standards including ISO.
  • Develop and motivate production staff for efficiency and quality.
  • Review and maintain quality management standards.
  • Manage security breaches.
  • Implement the 5 S system.
  • Assist in investigation of customer complaints.
Job description
Key Responsibilities
  • Production Planning communicate daily with the commercial manager, sales and dispatch planning team to ensure sufficient stock levels are maintained.
  • To plan maintenance schedule.
  • To assist with problem solving on breakdowns on the main production line.
  • Ensure safety levels are optimal and good housekeeping in factory.
  • Yard control to plan, organized and control the production facility to produce tiles and fittings of the correct
  • quality and cost at the correct time
  • Management of stock levels including critical spares and raw materials and ensure procurement procedures are adhered to.
  • Management stock counts and audits with finance and stock / inventory control in system.
  • Manage stock losses and variance tracking, production breakages.
  • Negotiate with all suppliers of both raw material and maintenance spares for the timeous supply of materials at the best possible rate
  • Maintain good industrial relations, experience within a unionized environment, and adhere to procedures between factory staff and management through the established IR procedures.
  • Labour productivity, efficiencies and unit production costs.
  • SHEQ Management and compliance with ISO 14001 & ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001
  • Develop and motivate production staff to achieve agreed objectives regarding efficiency, quality, industrial relations, health and safety
  • Maintain, review and develop the SABS Quality Management System to establish and maintain quality standards
  • Controls to manage shrinkage and breakages.
  • Management security breaches.
  • Ensure implementation of the 5 S system.
  • Negotiations with suppliers for high value items from time to time. Stores and buying procurement of spares for the factory fall under the Foremans control.
  • Assist with the investigation of customer complaints
