Job summary

Tumaini Consulting is seeking a New Product Developer to drive development and improvement of food products in an FMCG environment from concept to commercialisation. You will work with production, quality and procurement, coordinate trials and sample evaluations, and maintain accurate development documentation.

Ideal candidates hold a BSc or National Diploma in Food Science/ Technology with 3–5 years of product development experience in foods.

Qualifications

Analytical and problem-solving skills required.
Knowledge of food safety and quality standards preferred.

Responsibilities

Develop and improve food products in line with market and customer requirements.
Assist with new product concepts, formulations and product trials.
Conduct product testing and evaluate trial results.
Coordinate sample preparation and product evaluations.
Assist with recipe and formulation development.
Work closely with production, quality and procurement teams.
Support product scale-ups from laboratory or trial stage to production.
Maintain accurate product development and technical documentation.
Assist with troubleshooting formulation and production challenges.
Monitor product quality, consistency and performance.
Participate in sensory evaluations and product reviews.
Support continuous improvement and cost optimisation initiatives.
