Job description

Floor Shift Supervisor (Manufacturing) – Bronkhorstspruit.

A specialised manufacturing and packaging operation is looking for a capable and flexible Day & Night Floor Shift Supervisor to oversee operations during a rotating schedule (two weeks day shift followed by two weeks night shift).

In this pivotal role you will manage full-cycle floor operations across both shifts, leading a team of operators and technicians, maintaining production targets, ensuring product quality and safety standards, and enabling smooth handovers between shifts.

This is an ideal role for a hands-on leader who thrives on rhythm and continuity, and values operational excellence built on solid foundations.

Salary: R15 000 to R16 000 per month.

Minimum Requirements:

• Proven supervisory experience in manufacturing/packaging, ideally covering both day and night operations
• Strong knowledge of production line operations, workflow optimisation, quality control and shift-handover processes
• Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and develop a shift team, including technicians and operators
• Excellent communication skills (verbal & written), with strong discipline and accountability
• Competent in reading production metrics, analysing performance, and taking corrective action
• Solid understanding of health & safety regulations, housekeeping standards and night-shift risks
• Reliable, resilient and able to adapt to alternating shift patterns (day & night)
• Own reliable transport and a valid driver’s licence — ability to commute to Bronkhorstspruit for both day and night shifts

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage and supervise floor operations across the 2-week day / 2-week night rotation — ensuring production targets, quality standards and safety protocols are met
• Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPI) including output, downtime, scrap/rework, shift productivity and handover effectiveness
• Lead, coach and develop all shift personnel — assign tasks, monitor performance, conduct briefings and ensure continuous improvement
• Ensure smooth handover between day and night shifts: provide status updates, outstanding issues, handover logs and clear communication
• Coordinate with maintenance, logistics, quality and other support functions to ensure machines are operational, materials are available and finished goods delivered on schedule
• Perform regular floor inspections, enforce housekeeping, safety standards and ensure compliance with all operational policies
• Document and maintain accurate shift records, production logs, incident reports and handover summaries
• Identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies in the production process (especially in night shift context) and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance throughput and reduce waste
