About the Role
The Fleet Lead (4W) is accountable for building and managing our four-wheeler EV fleet operations in Johannesburg. You’ll lead Fleet Coordinators, drive recruitment and onboarding of riders, meet KPIs, and ensure alignment with operations, asset management, and infrastructure teams. This role combines people leadership with data-driven decision-making, critical for scaling our EV fleet nationally.
What You’ll Do
Leadership & Team Management
- Supervise and mentor Fleet Coordinators.
- Set clear KPIs for rider recruitment, training, and performance.
- Lead weekly performance huddles with coordinators and supervisors.
Operational Oversight
- Track rider availability, SLA compliance, and cancellations.
- Coordinate with Nerve Centre to reduce downtime.
- Align with Asset Management on repairs, breakdowns, and servicing.
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Ensure recruitment funnels are filled, and conversion rates are met.
- Oversee onboarding classes, EV training, and contract signoffs.
Reporting & KPIs
- Analyse fleet data daily and escalate risks.
- Submit weekly performance reports to Operations leadership.
- Drive corrective action on underperforming riders or coordinators.
Cross-Unit Collaboration
- Work with Marketing for recruitment campaigns.
- Coordinate with HR on ER cases.
- Partner with Infrastructure for Swap & Go alignment.
What You’ll Bring
- 4–6 years in fleet/logistics operations (EV or last-mile preferred).
- Proven team leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of gig-economy platforms and KPIs (Uber, Bolt, Takealot).
- Ability to coach and discipline riders/coordinators effectively.
- Comfort working with dashboards, CRMs, and operational reporting.
Success in the Role Looks Like
- Rider churn kept below 10%.
- SLA compliance consistently above 95%.
- Coordinators achieving recruitment and onboarding targets.
- Uptime and cancellation metrics within target thresholds.
