ABOUT MAMATWAN

The South Africa Manganese operation can be found in the manganese rich Kalahari Basin, in the country’s Northern Cape, which is home to 80 per cent of the world's manganese. This position is based at our open‑cut Mamatwan mine which started operating more than half a century ago.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role is a permanent full‑time position.

As a fitter, you will be responsible for timely installation, repair and maintenance of equipment to ensure that mining activities are executed in a safe manner as well as operate equipment and tests all working parts in functional area to ensure proper utilization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Complete hard copies of Job Cards and capture Job Cards on SAP;
  • Report deviations observed during inspections to ensure proper planning prior to execution;
  • Interprets and coordinates pre‑work about repairs, planned and predictive maintenance;
  • Accesses any area safely to perform necessary maintenance on machines or equipment;
  • Performs safety inspections of equipment and assesses risks on equipment;
  • Maintains a clean and safe worksite;
  • Ensures the upkeep of maintenance tools and equipment;
  • Coordinates activities associated with trouble‑shooting and repairing maintenance equipment.
ABOUT YOU

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a qualified Fitter in a mining environment;
  • In‑depth knowledge on inspection & repairs of pumps;
  • In‑depth knowledge of the workings of Jaw and Cone Crushers;
  • Experience working on conveyor belts including belt replacement, bearings, gearbox, couplings etc.;
  • In‑depth knowledge of hydraulics and hydraulic systems including static rockbreaker and apron feeder.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Grade 12 with mathematics;
  • N2 technical certificate;
  • Fitter trade;
  • Valid driver’s license.
