Fitter Assistant

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIREMENTS
  • Valid forklift license (essential).
  • 1–2 years’ experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of production machinery.
  • Ability to read instructions, follow procedures, and work under pressure.
  • Physically fit; able to lift, load, and handle materials safely.
  • Willingness to work shifts, overtime, and weekends if required.
  • Experience operating presses, rewinders, or similar machinery.
  • Exposure to MRO (Maintenance, Repair, Operations) environments.
  • Basic mechanical tools knowledge.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Machine Operation
  • Operate presses, rewinders, and other production equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Perform basic machine setup, adjustments, and safety checks before and during operation.
  • Monitor machine performance and report abnormalities to the supervisor or fitter.
  • Ensure proper changeover procedures when switching moulds or product specifications.
Maintenance Support
  • Assist the qualified fitter with repairs, maintenance, and mechanical tasks.
  • Prepare and hand over tools, parts, and equipment needed during maintenance work.
  • Support breakdown recovery by safely handling components and following instructions.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the maintenance and machine areas.
Material Handling
  • Load raw materials (e.g., aluminium foil rolls) onto presses, rewinders, and other machinery.
  • Safely transport materials, pallets, and tooling using a forklift (valid license required).
  • Assist with inventory counts of materials, tools, and spare parts.
  • Ensure all materials are stored safely and in designated locations.
Production & Quality
  • Follow production plans and meet daily output targets.
  • Conduct basic visual quality checks on products and materials.
  • Report any defects, deviations, or equipment issues immediately.
Safety & Compliance
  • Comply with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Use PPE and follow machine lockout / tag-out procedures when required.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment at all times.
  • Understand and follow company policies and standard operating procedures.
