Job summary

Fidelity Services Group in Durban is seeking a Fire Assistant Technician to support installation, testing, and maintenance of fire protection systems. You will assist with alarms, sprinklers, extinguishers and routine inspections to ensure equipment is in proper working order.

Beyond technical duties, you will respond to emergencies, follow safety protocols, and help train staff on evacuation procedures, while keeping precise maintenance records and supporting senior technicians on-site.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience working in a fire protection or related field is preferred.
• Knowledge of fire safety regulations and procedures.
• Technical skills to troubleshoot and repair fire protection systems.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work flexible hours and respond to emergency calls when necessary.
• Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and work in challenging environments.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the installation, testing, and maintenance of fire protection systems, including fire alarms, sprinkler systems, and fire extinguishers.

• Carry out any other duties as assigned by the Fire Technician or Fire Chief.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of fire safety regulations and procedures, along with technical skills to effectively support the team in their duties.

Key Responsibilities:
