Job summary

• Perform month-end close procedures (journals, accruals, reconciliations, provisions).
• Prepare monthly management accounts, variance analysis, and reporting packs for review by the Head of Finance.
• Reconcile VAT and other statutory accounts for submission to SARS

Working Capital & Cash Flow Management

• Monitor and manage debtors, creditors, and inventory to improve working capital.
• Supervise and review finance team activities (AP, AR, wages)
• Review and approve weekly and monthly supplier payments

Compliance & Governance

• Ensure compliance with South African statutory requirements (CIPC, SARS, VAT, Income Tax, Excise, Companies Act).
• Support the Head of Finance during audits and liaise with external auditors and tax consultants.
• Maintain and improve internal controls across financial and operational processes

Planning and Projects

• Assist Head of Finance with preparation of budgets annual planning cycle.
• Review insurance coverage, statutory returns, and compliance registers.
• Lead finance projects such as ERP improvements, cost-saving initiatives, or process automation.

Team Leadership

• Manage, train, and mentor finance staff (bookkeeper, clerks)
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
• Ensure the finance team maintains accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.

Qualifications:

• Relevant tertiary finance degree
• CA(SA) / Professional Accountant (SAIPA)
• 5 years post-article experience in financial management or senior accounting roles.
• Experience in FMCG, manufacturing, or distribution environment
• Strong working knowledge of IFRS, SARS requirements, other statutory requirements
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and accounting software (experience with Xero and Cin7 Core advantageous)
• Solid understanding of accounting principles relating to revenue recognition and inventory, with the ability to investigate, find and fix errors
