A leading financial services company in Johannesburg is seeking an experienced Financial Manager to oversee all financial reporting, manage budgeting and financial planning, and ensure compliance with company standards. The ideal candidate will have a B. Com in Accounting/Finance, at least 5-10 years of management experience in finance, and familiarity with financial software such as SYSPRO. This position emphasizes strong leadership and strategic financial oversight.
The Financial Manager will be responsible for delivery of all financial reporting requirements, ensuring effective financial controls are in place and successfully manage the Companys finance team.
The Financial Manager plays a critical role in budgeting, forecasting, investment analysis and financial planning.
The basic duties include, but are not limited to, the following : Financial Planning & Analysis Define financial requirements against mandated goals and objectives; how annual and longer-term goals and objectives can be met through the use of financial resources, and translate these into specific financial commitments.
Assess these requirements in financial terms, determining what is achievable using available financial resources through costing all aspects of these requirements.
Provide a roadmap to support the budgeting process.Budget Management :
Forecast estimates for the predicted use of financial resources against the budgeted financial resources during a given fiscal year or period.
Implement procedures for consolidation of cash flow, working capital, CAPEX decisions, risk management, funding, ratio analysis and Forex transactions.
Allocate funds to specific accounts in the chart of accounts.
Monitor the actual use of financial resources against the approved budget and identify variances.
Adjust the approved budget under directives from appropriate management and / or in response to variances between planned and actual expenditures.
Report findings and action taken to the appropriate authorities.
Providing analysis of revenue and expense trends, compilation of various business assumptions and ensuring the accurate computation of budget and forecast numbers for the Company into the reporting system.
Interrogate the budgeting process and implement improvements where necessary.
Oversight of finance functions across the Company and its subsidiaries and the MDs other businesses, including responsibility for financial accuracy and financial control across South Africa and other countries.
Ensure robust financial reporting including the preparation of monthly management accounts and quarterly statutory reports, review of journals and Statement of Financial Position reconciliations etc.
Periodic reviews of country Statements of Financial Position and interrogation of significant movements, significant balances and disbursements.
Design and implement financial / business controls and test operating effectiveness.
Ensure adherence to month-end process deadlines to comply with the Companys reporting requirements.
Preparation and review of the Companys consolidated and stand-alone financial statements.
Review of country financial statements and management accounts.
Responsible for preparation and review of dashboards (flash / weekly / monthly) and reporting on key performance drivers, trend analysis, business wins and losses as well as recommending remedial actions.
Prepare and review management accounts with variances (analysis and commentary) on a monthly basis within the time frames stipulated - providing relevant insight into the financial results and trends.
Provide quality management reporting relating to business performance across the Company, trend analysis etc. and decide and implement appropriate remedial actions where necessary.
Ensure timeous delivery of all financial quarterly reports and ad-hoc financial report submissions.
Ensure execution of all ad-hoc financial projects as and when required.
