Duties & Responsibilities
- Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Strategy & Planning : Develop and implement comprehensive financial strategies, budgets, and forecasts to support business objectives. Provide actionable insights through detailed variance analysis to drive performance.
- Cost Efficiency Analysis : Conduct ongoing analysis of equipment, materials, and labour spend, identifying opportunities for cost optimisation and operational efficiencies. Present data‑driven recommendations to senior management to enhance profitability.
- Financial Reporting : Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, monthly management accounts, and technical accounting journals. Ensure compliance with IFRS for SME and SAICA standards.
- Budget Management : Lead the annual budgeting process, collaborating with department heads to ensure cost efficiency and effective resource allocation. Monitor performance against budgets and provide strategic recommendations.
- Audit & Compliance : Coordinate external audits, prepare audit schedules, and ensure compliance with tax regulations, statutory reporting, and internal controls. Stay updated on regulatory changes to safeguard the company's financial integrity.
- Team Leadership : Mentor and guide the accounts team, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration. Assist with complex general ledger reconciliations and promote best practices within the team.
- ERP & Systems Optimisation : Collaborate with management and finance teams to enhance ERP systems, streamline reporting processes, and drive automation for greater efficiency.
- Stakeholder Engagement : Work closely with the CEO, management and department heads to align financial strategies with business goals. Communicate financial insights clearly to non‑financial stakeholders to support decision‑making.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Requirements, knowledge and skills Qualifications : Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) registered with SAICA.
- Experience : Minimum of 3‑5 years' post‑articles experience in financial management, ideally within a fast‑paced industry such as events, media, or manufacturing.
- Skills & Attributes : Exceptional analytical and problem‑solving skills with a keen eye for detail. Proven ability to conduct cost efficiency analysis and implement cost‑saving initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS for SMEs, tax regulations, and financial reporting standards.
- Highly proficient with technology, with the ability to quickly adapt to and master any software program, including our core tools, Xero for accounting and Google Workspace for collaboration and productivity.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (our systems will be integrated within our rental management platform) and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with a knack for simplifying complex financial concepts.
