An exciting opportunity exists for a dynamic and strategic Financial Executive to take full accountability for the financial leadership of operations across South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa. The successful candidate will be based at JNX and report directly to the Managing Director, playing a pivotal role in driving financial excellence, governance, and long-term growth.
Role Overview
The Financial Executive will provide strategic financial direction, strong governance, and commercial insight to support sustainable business expansion across South Africa and Namibia. This role oversees the full financial function—including accounting, reporting, planning, compliance, and risk management—and acts as a key business partner to the Executive Team. The incumbent will work closely with Group Leadership to ensure alignment with organisational strategy and high-quality financial delivery.
Financial Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and lead the financial strategy in alignment with Group objectives.
- Provide strategic input into business planning, investment decisions, and growth initiatives.
- Advise leadership on performance, risks, and opportunities.
Financial Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead annual budgets, mid-term plans, and rolling forecasts.
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and timeliness in all planning cycles.
- Track performance against targets and recommend corrective actions.
Financial Reporting & Consolidation
- Oversee timely, accurate daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
- Ensure high-quality submissions for Group and Board review processes.
- Present variance analysis and provide insight-driven commentary.
Financial Controls, Compliance & Governance
- Implement and maintain strong internal controls and governance frameworks.
- Ensure compliance with all tax, audit, and statutory requirements.
- Manage internal and external audit processes effectively.
Risk Management
- Identify, evaluate, and manage financial and operational risks.
- Implement risk mitigation strategies including liquidity and credit management.
- Ensure appropriate insurance and asset protection practices.
Treasury & Cash Management
- Oversee cash flow, working capital, and liquidity management.
- Provide strong oversight of debtor collections.
- Manage banking relationships and maintain payment integrity.
Operational & Commercial Support
- Partner with operational teams to drive profitability and efficiency.
- Support major projects with financial modelling and business cases.
- Promote data-driven decision-making across the business.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team.
- Build a high-performance culture with strong succession planning.
- Drive capability building and continuous improvement.
Group Collaboration
- Provide regular strategic updates to Group Leadership.
- Ensure alignment with Group policies and transformation initiatives.
- Support organisation-wide systems and improvement projects.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
- CA(SA) or equivalent, essential.
- 10–15 years of progressive finance experience, including 8+ years at senior leadership level.
- Strong technical knowledge in accounting standards, tax, and governance.
- Proven senior leadership capability in a complex, fast-moving environment.
- Experience in courier, logistics, or freight industry highly advantageous.
- Advanced MS Excel skills.
- Strong budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling experience.
- South African citizen with a clean criminal record.
