Job summary

RecruitMyMom is seeking a dedicated project accountant to oversee financial governance of events equipment sales and rental projects in the Somerset West area. You will manage costing, budgeting, invoicing, reporting and documentation from quotation through to project completion, ensuring margins and financial control in a luxury event environment.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or similar.
• Proven experience in project accounting or project administration.
• Strong budgeting, job costing, margins and financial reporting understanding.
• Strong numerical, analytical, organisational and administrative skills with high attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with marquee tents, events or hospitality environments.
• Valid driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

• Maintain project financial records, budgets, cost tracking and update cost databases.
• Monitor costs against budgets, perform GP variance analysis and investigate discrepancies.
• Process POs, supplier invoices, subcontractor costs and progress claims.
• Support cash flow forecasting, month-end reports and WIP tracking.
• Provide management with commercial insight and risk identification.
• Administer approval matrix and drive process improvements.

Overseeing financial governance of events equipment sales and rental projects, you will be responsible for projected Gross Profit and financial control. Operating from quotation through to project completion, the position ensures precise project costing, budgeting, invoicing, reporting, and documentation.

Operating within a luxury events and manufacturing environment, the role involves navigating tight deadlines and changing client requirements during peak event seasons while upholding standards of financial accuracy and commercial control.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain project financial records, budgets, cost tracking, and update standard cost databases to enhance estimating accuracy.
• Monitor project costs against budgets, conduct GP variance analysis between actual and quoted figures, and investigate discrepancies.
• Process purchase orders, supplier invoices, subcontractor costs, customer invoices, progress claims, and final accounts.
• Support cash flow forecasting, month-end management reporting, Work in Progress (WIP) tracking, and project reconciliations.
• Provide management with commercial insight, risk identification, and post-project lessons learnt reviews to safeguard margins.
• Administer the authority approval matrix and drive continuous improvement across project accounting processes.

Candidate must be located in the Somerset West region.

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a similar field.
